INTERNET RABBIT HOLE
The worst of all.
This is interesting: Yesterday, I was watching a video about how to correctly use google trends, which was the only thing I intended to do when I opened my computer.
The video discussed the number of people searching for different terms around the world. Suddenly, For whatever reason I started wondering how many people are using the internet in the world right now. So I pause the video, and ask lord google. It was 4.54 billion people. “Fascinating,” says my brain. “Don’t you wonder what 4.54 billion people would look like?,” whispers my brain. Immediately I open a new tab with youtube, but it gave me “ how 7 billion people would look in one city.” It discussed the most dense cities in the world, and if it would be possible to cram the whole world population in one of them. And there another idea appeared in my mind: “Everyone says Pakistan is one of the top populated countries. How come I didn’t see Pakistan in the list?” Click! I open another tab. I see Pakistan on 53th spot on the densely populated countries list. “What? It’s not one of the top”. But on the top populated countries list in a new tab, I see it on 5th spot. “ Ahh! It’s just that it’s land area is bigger, of course it has more population, but right below it, I see Brazil’s land area is way bigger but has less population. I also see the growth rates of other countries are way lower. “Ok, they were right”.
But, My eyes gazed upon Japan’s negative growth rate which sparked the curious part of my brain a little more. Click, new tab. “What’s wrong with japan and some other countries’ negative growth rate? Google shows me the graph which showed it wasn’t negative recently, but was a few years ago. “Speaking of graphs, Oh no! What am I doing? Wasn’t I looking at google trends graphs? How the good will did I get here?”
This is, my friends, The Rabbit Hole of The Internet. Stay aware of it. When using the internet, you should have one specific goal in mind, and you should stick to it. Stop letting your brain trick you into wasting time.
Because The rabbit hole of the internet never ends.FOLLOW ME
